The juxtaposition of dark and light man and machine, coming and going, all separated by a knife-edge corner is quite interesting. The corner itself, which might have been better placed somewhere else in other compositions, is such a visual watershed here that it almost turns this one photo into a diptych. I can't say I've ever seen anything quite like this before. My only suggestion is to give black and white processing a look, or at least desaturating the colors a bit. I think that would further emphasize the tonal contrast and composition that are so important to this image.
One of your best so far, JD! I would like to start by saying the first contact with this image is mind blowing! Is it a manip? Is it a diptych? Two faces of a crude, concrete reality. A perfect symmetry of planes, a contrast of ideas. The story is somewhere between a classic and nostalgia. Just so you know, it made me think of Ion Minulescu's poem :[link] , one of my personal favorites from Romanian literature. She leaves. Heading for the heart of a different Sun. He remains waiting, wondering and..."blue". The composition cuts. And you are forced to understand. A beautiful yet (maybe?) tragic love story! Brilliant!
