i must say i absolutely fell for this photo. in a past article/interview with JD [link] i wrote something like this about this photo:
"incredible contrast between the lively, colorful yet fallen leaves and the live yet faded humans next to them. seen from above this photo reveals all that we miss in our everyday horizontal point of view. beauty sometimes lives in the dirt, through muddy streets, trampled by urban stampedes.
the photo makes me think of the incredible feel of a warm autumn, of the silence of the dead leaves, their fall to the ground and their resurrection after the winter. although they overcome this dark transformation called death, they do it with style, grace and color almost seeming they mock their fate and show everyone there is beauty and passion in everything.
in antitheses with this you see the everyday humans passing by - in the greatest rush of their life - stepping on the black asphalt with their black clothes and black shoes. and also their blackening figures and souls. it's almost like they are doing their best to fade slowly without leaving any trace of their blurry existence on this earth.
sometimes words cannot express certain feelings - and this is one of those times when you have to hear the voice of this photo inside you, and hold it deep and tight, and never let it go.
I saw "stars" and then I saw the Milky Way. The contrasts of dark against a swathe of light - absolutely gorgeous. The fugures make this image have an illusionist quality - but my favorite piece of this image is the footprint dead center in this vast space. Let your mind digest all such ponderables for a few minutes! I say BRAVO!
Thanks a lot. I must confess that when I shot this, I didn't see the footprint - as it was raining and I had waited almost an hour to get the right moment.
