Reminds me of when my mom used to tell me to "go stand in the corner!" when I was being naughty.... Interesting how the lines of the floor and the decorations on the walls all point to the center of the picture. This really ramps up the intensity of the image.

Thanks, Peter. The 10mm tends to have this effect of concentring the lines, but the place itself had a special shape that added to this.

Thoughtful use of wide angle, perfect framing, great texture. Another image I'm really envious of. Anyway is this the way you punish your kids? ;-)

I can only learn from you, when it comes to architectural shots!
Actually, he was not punished, and I didn't even have to ask him to go there. In this "echo" room, he was listening to his brother whispering on the other corner.

Beautiful photograph and fascinating place! You framed it perfectly, the composition is so powerful! :wow:

"Salle de l'Echo", are you saying? It sounds really interesting. In my town (Kroměříž - Czech republic) we have a historical garden "Flower garden" where is this collonade [link] and it´s said, that if you whisper something to the wall on one side of it, another person can hear it on the oposite side, but it never worked when I tried. :D (Probably whispering to a bad point of the wall. :-) )

Perfect angle and perspective, JD.
That upper line of decoration makes a wild change in our perception but I'm also quite taken with the combination of textures in this image.

I know that a long history is bought with blood and tears but I look at the old structures throughout the world with envy.
With such a short period since the first european settlement and with almost no tangible remains from earlier than 1700, we North Americans think of stuff older than our fathers as antique.

I know. I am sure that when Versailles was built, it starved people and money could have been spent differently, but nobody will complain about it today.
